Members of the GCE-US Board of Directors came together in Washington, D.C. today for a day of advocacy on Capitol Hill, meeting with Senate staff at a pivotal moment for international education funding.
The meetings took place as Senate negotiators worked to finalize Fiscal Year 2027 funding decisions, including investments in international basic education programs that help children around the world access quality learning opportunities. Board members shared the importance of sustained U.S. leadership in global education and highlighted how investments in foundational learning contribute to stronger communities, economic opportunity, and long-term global stability.
Throughout the day, board members brought diverse perspectives and firsthand experience to discussions with Senate staff, emphasizing the critical role that education plays in helping children and young people reach their full potential. They also underscored the value of protecting and strengthening U.S. support for international basic education during a challenging funding environment.
GCE-US is grateful to its board members for lending their voices and expertise to these conversations and for helping ensure that global education remains a priority as Congress completes its FY27 appropriations process.
