On September 23, world leaders will gather during the United Nations General Assembly for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE)’s ‘Multiply Possibility’ financing campaign high-level event, presenting a critical opportunity for the United States to reaffirm its commitment to global education. The Global Campaign for Education-US (GCE-US) urges the U.S. government to demonstrate continued leadership by making a strong commitment to GPE’s 2026-2030 replenishment.
Education remains one of the most effective investments governments can make to promote economic growth, stability, health, and opportunity. A fully funded partnership could help improve education outcomes for nearly 750 million children around the world, strengthening the foundations for more prosperous and resilient societies.
For more than two decades, GPE has worked with governments and local partners to strengthen education systems, improve learning outcomes, and expand access to quality education for the world’s most marginalized children. Its country-led model helps governments develop sustainable education plans while mobilizing resources and expertise from a broad coalition of donors and stakeholders. At a time of growing global instability, displacement, and economic uncertainty, investments in education are investments in peace, resilience, and shared prosperity.
The United States has long been a bipartisan supporter of GPE, recognizing that education is not only a fundamental right but also a strategic investment that advances U.S. interests. Strong education systems promote economic growth, expand opportunity, and support more stable societies. Continued U.S. engagement in GPE reinforces America’s longstanding leadership in global development and strengthens partnerships with countries working to build a more secure and prosperous future.
“At a moment when millions of children are denied the opportunity to learn, the United States can reaffirm its leadership and invest in a more stable, prosperous, and equitable future,” said Giulia McPherson, Executive Director of GCE-US.
“GPE has a strong track record of helping countries strengthen education systems and improve learning outcomes. We encourage the U.S. government to make a robust pledge at this year’s replenishment conference and reaffirm that investing in education is an investment in global stability, economic growth, and opportunity for all.”
